The commander of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade made a site visit to the Humanitarian Assistance Program team in Livorno, Sept. 22. The HAP team, which reports to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency but is administratively assigned to Logistics Readiness Center Italy, 405th AFSB, greeted Col. Crystal Hills and provided her with a briefing and a tour of their facility.

U.S. Soldiers assist passengers injured in Somalia plane crash

Three 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade Soldiers out of Fort Bragg, N.C., were conducting medical training with a platoon of Somalia’s Danab commandos when a Jubba Airlines aircraft crash-landed at Mogadishu International Airport at 10:30 a.m. on July 18. While the Danab commandos rushed toward the aircraft to pull injured passengers from the aircraft, the three American SFAB team members established a triage station about 100 meters from the crash site and assisted local emergency responders to evacuate 16 injured passengers to nearby medical facilities.

VICENZA, Italy – U.S. Army Capt. Christopher Donaghe is a Physician Assistant assigned to 2nd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment “The Rock” in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. On May 20, Capt. Donaghe officially received the U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) 2021 Physician Assistant of the Year Award. The Commanding General of Regional Health Command Europe and Command Surgeon of USAREUR-AF, Brig. Gen. Mark Thompson traveled to Vicenza to present Donaghe with his well-deserved award for his selfless care of hundreds of Sky Soldiers.

SETAF-AF hosts joint command post exercise in Italy

Last week, more than 350 U.S. service members flooded Caserma Ederle, a small U.S. Army base in Northern Italy, for a 10-day joint force command post exercise that began April 4.
Spc. Joshua Omwenga, a combat medic with 444th Minimal Care Det., was born in Western Kenya. Omwenga was working as a school teacher when he was notified that he would receive a green card to the United States from a local lottery.
Florida Guard travels 8000 miles to partner with Africa

U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers from the 107th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment traveled over 8,000 miles to report on a multinational exercise in Africa Feb. 28 through March 17. The unit of Florida Army National Guard public affairs specialists departed St. Augustine, Florida, for Kenya, where they spent the last three weeks reporting on Exercise Justified Accord 22.
Over 20 militaries complete Justified Accord exercise ends in Kenya

Over 20 countries from all over the world gathered in Kenya to exchange information and focus on peacekeeping operations during Exercise Justified Accord 22 from Feb. 28 - March 17. More than 800 personnel from the U.S. joint force, inter-agencies, African Union and NATO participated in the exercise. Justified Accord 22 is a multi-component and multinational exercise with the goal to increase readiness and support enduring peace among the participants.
The exercise focused on a multinational field training exercise, a command post exercise, and medical training to enhance peacekeeping operations in the region. Through enduring cooperation and teamwork the participating countries conducted a successful exercise; learning and exchanging information for best practices moving forward.
Military leaders from the U.S. Army and over 40 African countries will join here March 21-25 in an effort to strengthen partnerships and discuss security challenges in Africa.
Maj. Gen. Andrew Rohling, commanding general of U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa, will welcome African Land Forces Summit 2022 attendees during the opening ceremony on March 21 in Columbus, Georgia.

Paratroopers from 173rd Airborne Brigade and U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa joined Tunisia Armed Forces in an airborne exercise near Bizerte, Tunisia, March 3-4.
Approximately 50 Soldiers from SETAF-AF and 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, parachuted alongside 50 Tunisian military counterparts onto the Al Amila drop zone from Sidi Ahmed Air Base near Bizerte, Tunisia.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is part of the U.S. Africa Command Contingency Response Force in north and west Africa. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside Allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
ISIOLO, KENYA - Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) is a challenging but rewarding career field that pushes physical and mental limits for those willing to take on the challenge. A NATO expert on peacekeeping operations in the African Sahel led a discussion among U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa staff members on Caserma Del Din, Vicenza, Italy, March 11 about the history and future of counter-violent extremist organizations in the region.
Justified Accord is an annual, multinational military exercise focusing on African partner capability and interoperability in support of United Nations and Africa Union peace support operations. The exercise seeks to improve multinational interoperability and to incorporate regional civilian, police and military entities into training.
Tunisian Counter-IED team tests skills at Raven's Challenge
