Lt. Col. Peter Mwangi, Commander of the 27th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Kenyan Defence Force and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jason Porter, deputy exercise director of Justified Accord 2023 opened the exercise with a ceremony in Isiolo, Kenya, Feb. 13, 2023.
The first day of Justified Accord in Isiolo saw the 720th Ordnance Company (Explosives Ordnance Disposal), train soldiers from the Kenyan Defence Forces on the proper use of ground search metal detectors during counter-improvised explosive device training, as well as 2nd SFAB individual tactical training with partners as well as 173rd Airborne Brigade conducting grnade validation.
Justified Accord is U.S. Africa Command's largest exercise in East Africa. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), this multinational
exercise brings together more than 20 countries from four continents to increase partner readiness for peacekeeping missions, crisis response and humanitarian assistance.

The ACFT provides the Army an assessment of all Soldiers’ muscular strength, endurance, power, speed, agility, coordination, flexibility, and balance. It was designed to better reflect the stresses of a combat environment, to address the poor physical fitness of recruits, and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for service members. Members of a 12-person U.S. Army medical team assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve's 807th Medical Detachment (Deployment Support), partner with Angolan Armed Forces medical professionals to deliver surgical treatment to local patients during the Angola Medical Readiness Exercise (MEDREX) held at the Hospital Militar Principal in Luanda, Angola, Nov. 8-18, 2022.
MEDREX is a medical training exercise, planned and executed by the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), that allows military health specialists from the U.S. Army and their African partners to exchange medical practices, procedures and techniques that build and strengthen treatment capabilities, resulting in lasting relationships between medical professionals.

AL22 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, joint, annual exercise hosted by Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia, June 6 - 30. More than 7,500 participants from 28 nations and NATO train together with a focus on enhancing readiness for U.S. and partner nation forces. AL22 is a joint all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise, employing a full array of mission capabilities with the goal to strengthen interoperability among participants and set the theater for strategic access.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade performed jump training over Italy in support of Exercise Swift Response. Swift Response is an annual U.S. Army Europe and Africa multinational training exercise in Eastern Europe, the Arctic High North, Baltics, and Balkan. Justified Accord '22 comes to an end

Exercise Justified Accord allows the US and our African partners to support enduring peace and stability in the region. Over 800 personnel are participating in the exercise which includes a multinational field training exercise and a command post exercise. Justified Accord is an annual and multinational military exercise focusing on African partner capability and interoperability in support of United Nations and Africa Union peace support operations. The exercise, which started on Feb. 28, seeks to improve multinational interoperability and to incorporate regional civilian, police, and military entities into training.

Paratroopers jump with partners in Tunisia

Paratroopers from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and 173rd Airborne Brigade joined Tunisia Armed Forces in an airborne exercise near Bizerte, Tunisia, March 3-4.
Approximately 50 Soldiers from SETAF-AF and 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, parachuted alongside 50 Tunisian military counterparts onto the Al Amila drop zone on Sidi Ahmed Air Base near Bizerte, Tunisia.
The paratroopers jumped from U.S. and Tunisian military aircraft, qualifying them for an exchange of foreign jump wings. U.S. and Tunisian soldiers presented each other parachutist badges in a ceremony March 4.
While the militaries have joined together in a number of military exercises, including African Lion last year, this was the first U.S.-Tunisia airborne exercise in a decade.
