54th BEB - Airborne provides support during Operation Allies Refuge

A U.S. Army Soldier assigned to the 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion - Airborne provides support and security for Afghan evacuees during Operation Allies Refuge at Naval Air Station Sigonella. NAS Sigonella and other transit centers provide a safe place for evacuees to complete paperwork while security and background checks are conducted before they continue to their final destinations. The five Soldiers, and a sixth Soldier, who will deploy halfway through the nine-month rotation were honored during a Sunday, Nov. 6 ceremony at the flight facility.
