US, Kenya prepare for the unimaginable CBRN threat

CBRN defense is a critical component of military preparedness, involving hazard detection, protection and mitigation. U.S., Kenyan and Tanzanian militaries, like most militaries, have specialized units and equipment dedicated to CBRN operations, including the use of protective gear, detection systems and decontamination procedures. These efforts safeguard troops and civilians from the harmful effects of CBRN agents in various operational environments.

‘Stronger Together’ Utah National Guard CBRN Task Force trains with Ghana Armed Forces during African Lion

Utah National Guard Soldiers from the Homeland Response Force – Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Task Force, known as HRF-CBRN, traveled overseas to train with Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as part of Exercise African Lion 2023, from May 31 to June 14, 2023.

Senegal military members treat a simulated casualty from a chemical attack during a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense demonstration hosted by the Moroccan and Senegalese militaries June 15, 2021, in Agadir, Morocco, during African Lion 2021. African Lion is U.S. Africa Command’s largest, premier, Joint, annual exercise hosted by Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal, 7-18 June. More than 7,000 participants from nine nations and NATO train together with a focus on enhancing readiness for U.S. and partner nation forces. AL21 is a multi-domain, multi-component, and multi-national exercise, which employs a full array of mission capabilities with the goal to strengthen interoperability among participants.
