DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania – The U.S. military, in partnership with the Tanzanian People’s Defense Force and partner nations will conduct Eastern Accord 2016, a command post exercise (CPX) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, July 11-22, 2016.

EA16 is a U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)-directed and U.S. Army Africa (USARAF)-led combined and joint exercise designed to exercise and assess the capacity and capability of participating staff and forces in peacekeeping operations. Approximately 200 military personnel from 8 participating nations will participate in the annual, combined, joint military exercise.

Eastern Accord brings together partner nations to practice and demonstrate proficiency in conducting peacekeeping operations. The exercise will include headquarters staff training and peacekeeping operations scenarios.

The exercise will consist of one week of classroom-based academics and one week of a command post exercise. The end goal of Eastern Accord 16 is to increase interoperability and build capacity between U.S. and African militaries, while cementing partnerships built from previous Eastern Accord exercises.

Once the exercise is complete, all exercise participants will return to their home countries and stations.
