U.S., Senegal partner for military medical exercise
A team of 16 U.S. Army medical professionals from the 44th Medical Brigade, work with Senegal Armed Force medical personnel at Ouakam Military Hospital in Dakar, Senegal, Jan. 24 to Feb. 10, 2022, during a medical readiness exercise.
A MEDREX, or medical readiness exercise, is coordinated by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa. They allow military medical personnel from the U.S. Army and African militaries to exchange medical practices and techniques, that build and strengthen treatment capabilities. The exercise expose participants to different medical delivery methods, and ultimately improve each participant's capacity to assess and employ care to Soldiers.

Tunisian C-IED specialists test skills at Raven's Challenge
Two Tunisian counter-IED experts partner with two ATF members and two U.S. Army EOD Soldiers to examine what is left of the electronics package of a suspected Vehicle Born Improvised Explosive Device March 9, 2022. The team disabled the VBIED with an explosive water charge during the Raven's Challenge Interoperability Exercise on Camp Blanding, Florida. The exercise is funded by the U.S. Army and led by the ATF. Personnel from multiple agencies including the FBI, the Department of the Defense, the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration, and state and local public safety agencies throughout the country all provide manpower resources to assist in completion of the exercise. A member of the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa C-IED planning cell joined the Tunisian contingent this year. In September, SETAF-AF brought two Libyan C-IED specialists to the event.

Niger Basic Training Enhancement Project

Sylla led a small team from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa on a visit to Niger to discuss projects and plans to enhance the Forces Armées Nigériennes basic training in coordination with the U.S. Embassy Niamey, Office of Security Cooperation and the Regional Training Institute of the Indiana Army National Guard. The FAN basic training capability enhancement project, part of the Trans-Sahara Counterterrorism Partnership Program, is scheduled to be completed before April. Instructions from the Indiana ANG Regional Training Institute are set to train and certify the FAN basic training instructors. The project aims to standardize FAN basic training in order to provide continuity for a professional security force to counter regional threats and violent extremist organizations. Niger Basic Training Enhancement Project

The three Soldiers of the Indiana Army National Guard visited Niger Dec. 6-10, 2021 to coordinate details of a project to bolster the Forces Armées Nigériennes Tondibiah basic training capability. They were joined by Soldiers from the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and representatives from the U.S. Embassy, Niamey Office of Security Cooperation. The group collaborated to finalize training plans to bring vetted program of instruction to the FAN. The goal of this program is to improve upon the existing basic combat training, develop standardized testing requirements and validate the evaluation process. The INARNG Regional Training Institute assessed the existing infrastructure, finalized training plans and refined the training requirement to enhance the FAN’s basic training program.
