Kenyan-born U.S. Army Captain returns to native land at exercise Justified Accord 2023
As nearly 1,000 exercise participants gather in Kenya for this year’s iteration of Justified Accord (JA23), one U.S. Army Reserve Soldier returns to very familiar territory. “It’s humbling to come back to my roots,” said U.S. Army Capt. Ronald Ottichilo, a microbiologist with U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF).
NY Army Guard C-12 detachment Soldiers headed to Horn of Africa
LATHAM, New York--Five New York Army National Guard Soldiers who operate a C-12 transport plane based at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Latham, New York are headed to East Africa later this month to support U.S. forces there.
The five Soldiers, and a sixth Soldier, who will deploy halfway through the nine-month rotation were honored during a Sunday, Nov. 6 ceremony at the flight facility.
Planning efforts are underway for Justified Accord 2023
This week more than 60 participants from the U.S., Africa partner nations and multinational forces gathered together to continue planning efforts for Justified Accord 2023—U.S. Africa Command’s largest East Africa military training exercise.
More than a badge; Challenging oneself, perseverance
U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Issaka Guebre, a combat medic with Civil Affairs East Africa Southern European Task Force Africa (CA-EA SETAF-AF), in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, challenged himself by participating in this month’s iteration of the French Desert Commando Course.
