SETAF-AF, USAG Italy volunteers join Italian organizations for Monte Berico cleanup

Thirty-five volunteers from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa joined forces with members of the Italian National Alpini Association of Vicenza “Monte Berico” (Associazione Nazionale Alpini di Vicenza "Monte Berico") and the Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta (Corpo Italiano di Soccorso dell'Ordine di Malta) for a cleanup of the Monte Berico porticos on Aug. 28, in Vicenza, Italy. Led by Col. Matthew J. Gomlak, the U.S. Army Garrison Italy commander, and Lt. Col. John Baker, the SETAF-AF Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion commander, Soldiers, civilians and family members from the Vicenza military community teamed up with Italians to ready the site for the upcoming festivities at the Sanctuary of St. Mary of Mount Berico (Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico), scheduled for Sept. 8. Vicenza Mayor Francesco Rucco thanked the volunteers who put in the hard work and effort to clean up and beautify one of the most visited landmarks in town.
